The Beijing Platform for Action—developed in 1995 at the UN’s Fourth World Conference on Women—was a groundbreaking document that solidified international commitments to sexual and reproductive health and established reproductive rights as human rights. Now, twenty-five years later, the Beijing Platform is undergoing a review to monitor its implementation at the national, regional, and global levels. Follow along as IWHC staff members share their experiences engaging with the Beijing+25 process. I recently visited Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to participate in the Africa regional review of the Beijing Platform. Ahead of the meeting I co-facilitated IWHC’s Advocacy in Practice (AIP) training program, which prepares young feminist leaders to advocate for progressive policies at the national and global levels.
